Model Investment Mix

We have developed several model investment mixes that represent different ways of allocating your savings and investment dollars among cash (savings), fixed income and equities (growth).

These range from a conservative plan aiming for capital protection to a more aggressive plan which looks for maximum growth.

The Cornerstone model investment portfolios reflect the following risk types:
Conservative Focused Moderate Aggressive
Moderate Portfolio
Income Balanced Growth Growth +
Savings 10%
Income 70%
Growth 20%
Foreign exposure 10%
Savings 5%
Income 75%
Growth 20%
Foreign exposure 35%
Savings 5%
Income 30%
Growth 65%
Foreign exposure 45%
Savings 5%
Income 15%
Growth 80%
Foreign exposure 55%
Foreign exposure is an estimate of weighting in International Balance fund.

Financial markets and business cycles change as do your needs and circumstances. That is why having an investment objective of simply building the “right” portfolio is not enough.

It is important to monitor the investment mix regularly which allows you to make the changes that become necessary as your financial goals and needs alter. By choosing Fiscal Agents Cornerstone® Planning process, you can rest assured because it is designed to do just that!

When reviewing your investment plan with you, we may suggest some re-balancing if your goals have changed or your allocation weightings have been altered due to asset performance. This ensures that your actual portfolio is in line with your original plan or new goals. Time horizons often change as long-term goals become medium and then short-term, which may require a change in investment strategy and asset mix. Converting growth type investments to income should be done with market foresight to be of optimum benefit to you.

Of course, we understand that not everyone has the same investment temperment and we also know that friction can occur with couples with different risk tolerances who are working toward the same goals. If this should be the case, we recommend that the Cornerstone® Planning process be applied to create separate investment portfolios. That way, both parties stay happy!
