As a product of working class background his upbringing fashioned from within an era that backdrops pop art and psychedelic cultures, his influences range from the Beatles (attended the same school as Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr)), through to the stick men of Lowry, Turner’s atmospherics and Constables England.

Like many, his lot was at the whim of osmosis. Doodling across any bit of paper until his mother’s pronouncement – regretting not starting painting early in her life – this then combined his sketches with watercolour. Today David works from within his propose built studio at his home.

Three of David’s 5 sisters have passed through art school. Cathy, the eldest (in her early 40’s); receiving the student of the year award in 3 consecutive years at Rennie Mackintosh’s, Glasgow School of Fine Art, and is presently lecturing at the school.

For more than 20 years, David’s artistic endeavors have been providing a sanctuary to his business activities. David is a principal in a financial services enterprise that services both individual investors and the national media. He is also serving as the president (7th year) of a 40+ billion dollar professional standards organization.

“We all have an innate desire to create. Finding the channel is a double-edged sword. Do we seek teaching or reflect upon our own experience: Mine is the latter”, says Newman.
